Who this policy covers

This policy applies to bookandrelax.com, the direct booking website for Whispering River, a short-term rental property in Hensonville, NY. It does not cover Airbnb, VRBO, or any other platform you may use to find or book this property — those platforms have their own separate privacy policies.

What we collect, and why

Your IP address: logged for every visit, and kept indefinitely, for two reasons. First, security — it lets us detect and automatically block repeated malicious login attempts against this site. Second, basic metrics — understanding roughly where visitors come from (city/region/country level). Location is estimated entirely on our own server using an offline lookup database; your IP address is never sent to any third-party geolocation service.

If you use the contact form: your name, email address, phone number (if provided), and message. This is used only to respond to your question or inquiry, and is emailed directly to the property owner. Kept indefinitely so we can refer back to prior conversations.

If you use the booking form at /book: your name, email address, phone number, requested dates, and guest count, used to process a reservation and contact you about your stay. This page currently isn't linked anywhere on the site while direct booking is offered through Airbnb and VRBO instead, but it remains functional and reachable, so this is disclosed for accuracy. Payment itself is handled entirely by Stripe on Stripe's own secure checkout page — we never receive or store your card number.

Cookies and local storage

This site does not use cookies or browser local storage of any kind — nothing is stored on your device at all, for tracking, preferences, or any other purpose. The Fahrenheit/Celsius temperature display, for example, always starts on Fahrenheit and resets every time you load a page, rather than being remembered.

Who we share information with

• Stripe — processes payment if the booking form is used. Stripe has its own privacy policy governing the payment information you provide directly to them.
• Airbnb and VRBO — if a reservation is ever made through the booking form, its dates (not your name or contact information) are shared with these platforms solely to keep availability calendars in sync, preventing double-bookings.
• Our email provider (Gmail) — contact form and booking notifications are sent via Gmail to the property owner's inbox.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any advertiser, data broker, or marketing service. There are no advertising or tracking pixels of any kind on this site.

How long we keep information

IP addresses are kept indefinitely, for the security and metrics reasons described above. Contact form messages are kept indefinitely as well, so we can refer back to prior conversations. Any booking records are kept so we can honor past and upcoming reservations. All of this can be deleted by the property owner on request.

Your choices

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete any personal information we hold about you (such as a past booking or contact message) by emailing us using the contact information below. We'll respond as soon as reasonably possible.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change too. We encourage checking back occasionally if you have concerns.
